Elstree Mozart Players – Concerto Classique Concert

Elstree Mozart Players lead by Lucy Cumming, conducted by Derek Holland will be performing a concert in Allum Manor & Hall in Borehamwood on Saturday 20th November 2021

This Concert features performances of several well-known Concertos, including Lebrun’s Oboe Concerto No.1, Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto in C, together with a performance of Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto.

The concert is envisaged to raise money for the Studio Rotary Club President’s Charity for the year ‘Mind in Hertfordshire’.

The orchestra consisting of local musicians, is aimed to enthuse the cross section of the local community crossing age barriers, gender race and religion, to celebrate music as a performing art.

The concert, which has been organised in conjunction with the Trustees and staff of Allum Hall and Manor, and the Rotary Club of the Studios in Elstree & Borehamwood, being grateful for their support with organising this concert.

Tickets will be available on the night, but we urge people to reserve tickets before-hand to ensure your seat.

Elstree Mozart Players Concert 9th October 2021

Elstree Mozart Players with Borehamwood Brass

On Saturday 9th October Elstree Mozart players performed their first concert since this 29th February 2020.

The orchestra led by Lucy Cummings and consisting of 70 local musicians, being is aimed to enthuse the cross section of the local community crossing age barriers, gender race and religion, to celebrate music as a performing art.

The evening concert was conducted by one of the founders of the orchestra, Derek Holland

The concert staged at Allum Manor & Hall in Elstree and Borehamwood featured performances of Rossini’s William Tell Overture, Eric Coates ‘The Three Elizabeth’s Suite, William Mathias’s Serenade (op 18), Elgar’s Pomp & Circumstance March No 4 in G, J Straus II Die Fledermaus Overture, Armas Jarnefelt’s Praeludium, concluding with Sibelius’s Finlandia.

For the performances of Pomp & Circumstance and Finlandia the orchestra was augmented by the inclusion of members of Borehamwood Brass.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the performance of Phillip White’s Tuba Concerto has been rescheduled for our concert in December.

The Mayor of Elstree and Borehamwood Cllr Farida Turner was in attendance for the concert, along with the president of The Rotary Club of the Studios of Elstree and Borehamwood, Victor Eni.

Members of the club assisted with the running of the event, together with running a small raffle raising money for local Rotary Charities.

The concert, which has been organised in conjunction with the Trustees and staff of Allum Hall and manor, being grateful for their support with this concert.

The next concert by Elstree Mozart Players will be on Saturday 20th November at Allum Manor. This concert presents a series of concerto solos featuring Mozart’s Flute & Harp concerto, and Haydn’s Trumpet concerto.

Autumn Concert – Saturday 9th October 2021

Elstree Mozart Players lead by Lucy Cumming, conducted by Derek Holland will be performing a concert in Allum Manor & Hall in Borehamwood on Saturday 9th October 2021

This Concert features ‘Rossini’s William Tell Overture’ and includes a ‘world premiere’ of a ‘Tuba Concerto’ by Phillip White.

The planned performance of Elgar’s Cello Concerto publicised will now be performed at a later date. This has now been replaced by ‘Three Elizabeth’s Suites by Eric Coates and Serenade (op 18) by William Matthias

The concert also includes a performance of Sibelius’s Finlandia, introducing members of Borehamwood Brass.

Soloist for the evening is Christopher Barrett, in a change from the publicised soloist.

The concert is envisaged to raise money for the ‘Rotary local charities in Elstree & Borehamwood’.

This will be the first performance of the orchestra since February 2020, because of all the COVID-19 restrictions we have been living through.

Cancellation of the Classical Extravaganza Concert on Saturday 23rd January 2021 due to UK COVID-19 Lockdown

Due to the changes in COVID-19 lockdown for everyone in the UK. We have had to cancel the planned concert for Saturday 23rd January 2021, with full refunds being given to all those who had paid and purchased tickets.

The management of the orchestra are keeping everything under review and look forward to be able to resume our popular concerts when the restrictions are lifted.

Christmas Extravaganza Concert

Due to the changes in COVID-19 Tier levels the for Hertsmere area. Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council have had to cancelled the planned concert for Saturday 19th December 2020.

The management of the orchestra wish you all a safe and peaceful Christmas.

Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council’s Christmas Extravaganza Concert

Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council has engaged the orchestra to provide a Christmas concert on Saturday 19th December 2020.

COVID measurers will be in place for this concert meaning every person attending will be tested on arrival, with a register of those attending, to comply with secure venue checks.

This Christmas Classical Extravaganza Concert will take place at Allum House & Hall commencing at 7.30pm, see above poster.

The programme which is oven ready, world beating, gold standard as well as COVID secure is being presented to allow residents of the town to bring some Christmas cheer this year.

Due to regulations in place tickets would be available IN ADVANCE ONLY with contact information taken in line current legislation. Numbers will be limited, to the maximum capacity for the venue under current restrictions.

THIS CONCERT WILL TAKE PLACE GIVEN THE CURRENT GUIDLINES. IF THERE ARE FURTHER GOVERNMENT RESTRICTIONS THEN THIS CONCERT WILL BE CANCELLED WITH FULL REFUNDS

As I am sure you can understand anyone who has a temperature of over 37.5C will be refused entry. There will be strict guidance on how to enter and leave the building. A one-way will be in operation with an in and out route of the premises. Signage will be provide giving guidance on the routes they audience should follow, with hand sanitizers located throughout the hall, and a track and trace system in place for all to complete on arrival.

Postponement and Rearrangement of concert planned for 14th November

The Elstree Mozart Players, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of the Studios of Elstree and Borehamwood, have rescheduled their Extravaganza concert following talks with Allum Hall & Manor House originally planned for Saturday 14th November 2020.

Due to the announcement of COVID-19 lockdown for the whole of November, this concert has been rescheduled for 23rd January 2020.

The same measurers remain in place for this concert as for the planned date in November whereby every person attending will be tested on arrival, with a register of those attending, to comply with COVID-19 secure venue checks. Anyone testing over 37.5°C will be refused entry.

Classical Extravaganza Concert 2020

The Elstree Mozart Players, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of the Studios of Elstree and Borehamwood, have been in talks with Alum Hall & Manor House about the potential for holding a ‘socially distance’ concert on Saturday 14th November 2020.

As you can understand given the difficult times, we are all facing it has been exceedingly difficult to plan anything.

Given the recent speech by the Prime Minister on Tuesday the 22nd September, and advice received from the Department of Culture Media and Sport, which was clarified that given the current rules we are still allowed to hold a small concerts in a COVID-19 secure venues.

The orchestra, therefore, is continuing to plan for the concert on Saturday 14th November Elstree Mozart Players a concert lead by Lucy Cumming, conducted by Derek Holland to include a programme of music by Rossini, Bottesini, Vivaldi, Elgar, Mozart, Binge, Haydn

This Classical Extravaganza Concert will take place at Alum House & Hall commencing at 7.30pm, see enclosed poster.

Due to regulations in place tickets would be available IN ADVANCE ONLY with contact information taken in line current legislation.

Numbers will be limited to 65, as this is the maximum capacity for the venue under current restrictions.

Suspension of Concert Season

Given the extent of the Corona-virus (COVID-19) outbreak across the world, and the government ceasing all gatherings and closure of theatre’s and bars all of the events in June have been postponed to be rescheduling at a later date
